Amazing that I have yet to fall
Because, you see, I’ve no balance at all!
Crazy how fast time passes,
Despite the ways we try to catch it.
Even though it still hurts to think of what’s gone before,
“Freedom comes from letting go of what has made us sore”
Give me strength to overcome,
Help me to know right from wrong,
Interesting how far I’ve fallen,
Just because of one thing I’d forgotten.
Knowing, they say, is half the battle,
Little do they know, and still they follow like cattle.
My life is worth a lot to me,
Not so much to others, though this may be.
Of course, to each their life is most precious,
Precious lives, but the owners are precocious.
Questioning why this is,
Really takes too much time from more important business.
“Straight and narrow,” they said this path would be,
Tough luck to me, since them I believed.
Unfortunately, now I’m stuck on this strange road.
Very hard to know which way to go.
Will the road never end?
Xenophobia plagues these inhabitants, making it hard to stay safe.
Yet somehow I’m managing, deftly moving on,
Zipping through this maze-like road we call “life.”
Trying to expand my horizons in poetry. Today I tried out an alphabet poem. You know, it's a whole lot harder to make a poem where each line starts with the next letter of the alphabet than it looks. At least it rhymes (mostly). Thought it'd be easy. I need to stop thinking things like that.
